Pune Crime Branch seizes drugs worth ₹3.22 lakh in Bharati Vidyapeeth and Hadapsar areas; two arrested

PUNE: The ANC-1 of the Crime Branch of Pune police seized 150 gm opium, 632 gm ganja and other items worth ₹3.22 lakh and arrested two persons from Bharati Vidyapeeth and Hadapsar areas. CP Ritesh Kumar and Joint CP Sandeep Karnik had issued instructions that the campaign against drugs should be intensified apart from keeping control over crime in Pune city.

When officials and policemen of ANC were patrolling in Hadapsar police station limits under the guidance of Sr PI of ANC-1 Vinayak Gaikwad, policemen Pravin Uttekar and Sandip Shirke got information that a woman was selling ganja and other drugs at Survey Number 156/6, Sai Corner, Gavli Vasti, Manjari Budruk, Pune on Manjari-Mundhwa Road. The team apprehended her after completing legal formalities and she was found selling 632 gm ganja worth ₹12,650 and an FIR (1067/2023) has been registered against her at the Hadapsar police station under NDPS Act 8 (C) and 20 (B).

When ANC-1 team was patrolling on July 21, 2023 in the limits of Bharati Vidyapeeth police station, policemen Pandurang Pawar and Sachin Malve got the information that a man, Virmaram Kojaram Bishnoi was selling opium on the public road opposite Bharati Vihar Society gate, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune. When action was taken after completing the legal formalities, it was found that a man, Virmaram Kojaram Bishnoi (30), a resident of a room belonging to Naresh Chouhan, Kondhwa and hailing from Rajasthan, was in illegal possession of drugs worth ₹3,10,000 including 150 gm opium and a mobile. Hence, an FIR (484/2023) has been registered against him under NDPS Act sections 8 (C) and 17 (B).

The ANC-1 team took action on two consecutive days and seized drugs worth ₹3,22,650 including 150 gm opium and 632 gm ganja and arrested a man and a woman in Bharati Vidyapeeth and Hadapsar areas.

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Ritesh Kumar, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Amol Zende, ACP Sunil Tambe by ANC-1’s Sr PI Vinayak Gaikwad, API Laxman Dhengle, Shailaja Jankar, policemen Sujit Wadekar, Dnyaneshwar Ghorpade, Maruti Pardhi, Pravin Uttekar, Vishal Dalvi, Manojkumar Salunke, Rahul Joshi, Pandurang Pawar, Sandip Shirke, Sachin Malve, Sandesh Kakade, Nitesh Jadhav, Rehana Shaikh and Yogesh Mohite in taking the action.
