Pune: CP takes action against three gangsters of Akshay Lonare gang under MCOCA; Police commissioner has taken action against 56 criminal gangs so far

PUNE: The police commissioner has taken action against Akshay Ashok Lonare, who is accused of attempting to kill a youth after brutally assaulting him for not giving money for a party and his two accomplices, under MCOCA. So far, CP Ritesh Kumar has taken action against 56 organised criminal gangs under MCOCA.

The accused Akshay Lonare and his two accomplices had brutally assaulted a youth with a wooden stick because he refused to give money for party. The incident took place on June 9, 2023 at Badhe Chowk in Kondhwa Khurd. The family members of the youth had lodged a complaint with the Kondhwa police. Accordingly, the police have registered an FIR against gang leader Askhay Ashok Lonare (28), a resident of Kondhwa Khurd, Aniket Raju Deshpande (23), a resident of Kondhwa, Dinesh Ramdas Ghadge (22), a resident of Kondhwa Budruk under sections 307, 323, 504, 34 of the IPC, Maharashtra Police Act and Criminal Law Amendment Act.

Gang leader Akshay Lonare has formed a criminal gang and committed 12 crimes in the limits of Kondhwa police station. The gang has committed crimes like attempted murder, rape, robbery, burglary, possession of sharp weapons and threatening people to establish the supremacy of his gang and create terror in the area. Preventive action had been taken against them but they have frequently committed such crimes.

Senior PI Santosh Sonawane had sent a proposal of including sections 3 (1)(ii), 3(2), 3(4) of MCOCA in the FIR registered against the accused at the Kondhwa police station to Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma through DCP Vikrant Deshmukh. The addl CP examined the proposal and gave his approval. ACP Shahuraje Salve is carrying out further probe.

The CP has so far taken action against 56 organised criminal gangs and similar action will be taken in the future.

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Ritesh Kumar, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, DCP Vikrant Deshmukh and ACP Shahuraje Salve by senior PI Santosh Sonwane, PI Sandeep Bhosle, PI Sanjay Mogle, PSI Samadhan Machale, policemen Jagdish Patil, Rajendra Nanavare, Nitin Chavan and Hanumant Rupanvar.
