Pune: Businessman cheated of ₹30 lakh under the guise of providing restaurant franchisee; FIR registered against the owner of Sambar restaurant and his son and daughter

PUNE: An FIR has been registered against the owner of Sambar restaurant and his son and daughter at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station for cheating a businessman of ₹30 lakh on the pretext of giving a franchisee.

Sanjay Shamrao Yevle (55), a resident of Katraj, has lodged a complaint and an FIR has been registered against Sambar restaurant’s Ramajayam Govindraj Ayaa Kutty (62), a resident of Paud Road, son Swapnil Ramajayam Ayaa Kutty and his daughter. Sanjay Yevle had met Ramajayam Ayaa Kutty and his son Swapnil in 2019 for seeking a franchisee. At that time, Ramajayam had agreed to give the franchisee.

Ramajayam won Yevle’s confidence by agreeing to give franchisee. For that, he took ₹15 lakh, ₹10 lakh for buying new equipment and ₹5 lakh for paying pending salaries of employees. Later, despite asking repeatedly, Ramajayam did not give the franchisee. Kutty gave Yevle three cheques of ₹10 lakh of a closed bank account. The cheques were not cleared. Finally, Yevle has lodged a complaint with the police and an FIR has been registered against Kutty. PSI Jadhav is probing the case.
