Pune: In a decisive operation, the Anti-Corruption Department of Pune has apprehended Divisional Officer Jayashree Kawade, along with private computer operator Yogesh Kantaram Tatale and agent Vijay Sudam Naiknaware, for demanding bribes amounting to Rs. 7,000. The incident, which unfolded at the premises of Theur Mandal Officer’s office on Tuesday, came to light following a complaint lodged by a 25-year-old youth with the Pune Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
According to the complaint, the incident stemmed from an application filed by the paternal grandmother of the complainant to restore the name record on the 7/12 extract of agricultural land located at Mauje Kolwadi. Upon seeking approval for the alteration record from Divisional Officer Jayashree Kawade, the complainant was coerced into meeting private agent Vijay Naiknaware, who demanded a bribe of Rs. 10,000 to approve the entry.
Subsequently, a complaint was filed with the Pune ACB, triggering an investigation into the matter. Upon verification, it was revealed that both Yogesh Tatale and Vijay Naiknaware had demanded a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant, ultimately accepting Rs. 7,000 as a compromise. Confessions from Tatale corroborated the allegations, implicating Jayashree Kawade in facilitating the bribery scheme.
The Anti-Corruption Department, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhuri Bhosle, conducted a meticulous operation, resulting in the red-handed apprehension of Naiknaware while accepting the bribe. The swift action was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe and Additional Superintendent of Police Dr. Shital Janve.
