Pimpri: Dehu Road Police Accused of Extorting College Student in Fake Narcotic Case

Pimpri-Chinchwad: A disturbing case has emerged from Pune, shedding light on alleged extortion and coercion by the Dehu Road police, who purportedly demanded Rs 20 lakh from a college youth under the threat of implicating him in a false drug-related crime. The incident, which transpired between February 10 and February 11, has ignited outrage within the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Force, prompting swift action against those who will be held guilty.

According to reports, the ordeal unfolded at Seven Café near Symbiosis College, Maya’s Lodge, and Gahunje Stadium. Eight individuals, including two police personnel, have been implicated in the case, with four arrests made thus far. The arrested suspects have been identified as Anil Chaudhary, Aman Sheikh, Hussain Dange, and Mohammad Ahmer Mirza, while the remaining accused, namely Shankar Gorde, Munnaswamy, Police Constable Hemant Gaikwad, and Sachin Shejal, are currently at large.

The victim, Vaibhav Singh Manishkumar Singh Chauhan, a 19-year-old resident of Boys Hostel, Symbiosis College, Kiwale, recounted his harrowing ordeal in a complaint lodged at the Dehu Road Police Station. Chauhan, a student at Symbiosis College, found himself at the mercy of the law enforcement officers and their cohorts, who allegedly conspired to extort money from him.

According to Chauhan’s complaint, he was abducted from Seven Café near the college premises on February 10 at around 12.15 p.m. and subsequently transported to Maya’s Lodge and Gahunje Stadium before being taken to the Dehu Road Police Station. Throughout the ordeal, Chauhan was purportedly threatened with false charges of drug possession and incarceration unless he complied with the demand for Rs 20 lakh in extortion.

Under duress and fearing for his safety, Chauhan succumbed to the demands of the perpetrators, transferring Rs 4 lakh 98 thousand from his bank account to various other bank accounts via Google Pay and Net Banking. The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mugut Patil, attached to the Dehu Road Division, is spearheading the ongoing investigation into the case.
