Man Arrested for Fatal Attack on Co-worker Over Reported Assault of Relative
A tragic incident unfolded in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, as a man was arrested for the murder of his office colleague, allegedly in retaliation for the reported sexual assault of his distant relative. The accused, identified as Lokendra Kishor Singh (28) from Wakad, stands accused of fatally attacking Niketan Kunal, his co-worker at a real estate company, in Hinjewadi.
The incident, which occurred on April 5, prompted swift action from the authorities, leading to Singh’s arrest and the initiation of legal proceedings. An FIR was registered at the Wakad Police Station on Wednesday, detailing the circumstances surrounding the fatal confrontation.
According to police reports, Singh’s distant relative accused Kunal of sexually assaulting her after an evening party on April 3, alleging that the incident took place at Kunal’s residence while both parties were under the influence of alcohol. Upon learning of the alleged assault, Singh’s relative informed him of the incident, leading to the fatal encounter.
On April 5, Singh, accompanied by his relative sister, confronted Kunal at his apartment in Hinjewadi. However, what began as a confrontation quickly escalated into violence, with Kunal allegedly striking Singh’s head with a brick upon opening the door. The brutal assault proved fatal, resulting in Singh’s untimely demise from the inflicted wounds.
In response to the tragic incident, the Hinjewadi Police Station has filed a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertains to charges of murder.
