Pune: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 21-year-old third-year B. Sc (Physics) student from Fergusson College, identified as Om Nilesh Kapdane, ended his life by hanging himself on Thursday. Hailing from Nashik, the young boy had come to Pune with dreams of pursuing his education, but the shadows of despair consumed him, leading to this tragic outcome.
The incident was reported to the Chaturshrungi police station, and their investigation continued late into the night on Thursday. Om Kapdane resided in a rented apartment in Vishnu Kunj building, situated in Wadar Wadi near Fergusson College, where he lived with a friend.
The dreadful incident occurred when Om was alone in his room on Thursday evening. His friends were the ones to discover the heart-wrenching scene upon their return. They immediately alerted the authorities, and the Chaturshrungi police swiftly arrived at the scene.
The police took possession of the young student’s lifeless body and subsequently transferred it to Sassoon Hospital for a post-mortem examination. At present, the police remain uncertain about the reasons that drove Om to take such a drastic step, as no suicide note was found.
