PUNE: A team of unit 6 of the Crime Branch of Pune police has arrested a man in Wagholi for his involvement in the murder of former corporator of Jejuri and NCP MP Supriya Sule’s close aide Mehboob Pansare.
The accused has been identified as Dutta Maruti Malekar (45), a resident of Pune. On July 7, 2023 former corporator Mehboob Pansare was killed after being assaulted by a sickle and an axe in Dhalewadi area of Jejuri. An FIR of murder is registered at the Jejuri police station.
CP Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik had issued instructions to police officials that they should search for absconding accused in MCOCA cases and wanted criminals in serious crimes. Sr PI of Unit 6 Rajnish Nirmal had got the information that the accused in the Mehboob Pansare case was going to come to the grazing land in Wagholi. The information was verified and he was arrested after laying a trap.
When he was questioned, he admitted his involvement in the murder. He has been handed over to the Pune Rural police for further action.
CP Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Amol Zende and ACP Satish Govekar guided Sr PI Rajnish Nirmal, PSI Bhairavnath Shelke, policemen Macchindra Walke, Vitthal Khedkar, Kanifnath Karkhele, Nitin Munde, Sambhaji Sapte, Prateek Laigude, Ramesh Memane, Sachin Pawar, Hrishikesh Vyavahare, Hrishikesh Takvane, Hrishikesh Tilekar, Shekhar Kate, Ashfaq Mulani, Jyoti Kale, Nitin Dhadge and Suhas Tambekar in tacking the action.
