Case Registered Against Accused for Fabricating Documents to Deceive Authorities

Authorities in Pune have uncovered a deceitful scheme involving the fabrication of a counterfeit non-agricultural (NA) certificate to facilitate the registration of land documents. The incident, which transpired on August 9, 2023, at the sub-registrar’s office in Haveli No. 19, has led to the filing of a case at Chaturshrungi police station following directives from the tehsildar.

The accused, identified as Valmiki Navnath Salunkhe of Lawrence, behind Sanjeevani Hospital, Hadapsar, faces charges under several sections of the Registration Act 1908 and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The complaint was lodged by Bhausaheb Tukaram Acharya of Rathod Niwas, Old Sangvi.

According to police sub-inspector Sambhaji Gurav, Salunkhe registered a deed of purchase for an area measuring 2,800 square feet in survey number 52, share number 3/1 of Vadgaon Sheri, acquired through a power of attorney. However, obstacles arose due to the land’s agricultural status, prompting Salunkhe to forge an NA certificate purportedly signed by the Haveli tehsildar.

Exploiting the power of attorney, Salunkhe proceeded to register a deed at the sub-registrar’s office in Haveli 19, Aundh, using the forged documents. However, upon scrutiny, discrepancies emerged, leading to the discovery of the fraudulent NA certificate. Upon verification, it was confirmed that the documents submitted by Salunkhe were indeed forged.

Prompt action was taken by the tehsildar, who alerted the sub-registrar’s office regarding the fraudulent documents. Directives were issued to initiate legal proceedings, resulting in the filing of a case in connection with the forged documents.
