Kayani Bakery Falls Victim to Cyber Scam: Fake Website and Google Listing Dupe Several

Kayani Bakery

Pune’s renowned Kayani Bakery has become the target of a cyber scam as fraudsters create a deceptive website and a fake Google listing under the bakery’s name. Victims, lured by the imitated online platforms, have been losing substantial amounts of money while placing orders for Kayani Bakery products.

The owners of Kayani Bakery have lodged a complaint with the Pune City Police, highlighting the severity of online fraud committed under their reputable brand. The authentic website, www.kayanibakerypune.com, stands in stark contrast to the fraudulent “kayanibakeryonline.com,” featuring images of the actual Kayani Bakery in the Camp area, along with various product images and a contact number.

According to a Kayani Bakery partner, numerous individuals have reported significant financial losses since December 2023, falling prey to the scam by making online payments through the counterfeit website and Google listing. Shockingly, one victim even visited the bakery after losing Rs 1.35 lakhs to the internet scam.

The fraudulent Google listing, seemingly affiliated with Kayani Bakery, showcases their products and provides a contact number for orders, deceiving unsuspecting customers. It’s important to note that Kayani Bakery accepts payment only in-store by card or cash and through Zomato for Pune deliveries. The bakery has clarified that it has no other branches, franchises, or online ordering portals.

In a proactive measure against dishonest activities, Kayani Bakery has issued a statement on its Google listing, affirming that they never request OTP for transactions involving their products. Furthermore, they do not endorse any contact numbers for online delivery through calls.

A case has been filed, and the authorities have initiated further actions to address the fraudulent cyber scam.
