Jejuri Police Seizes Illegal Liquor Worth Over Rs 5 Lakh in Dholewadi Raid

In a significant crackdown, Jejuri Police executed a raid in Dholewadi, leading to the seizure of 1,225 liters of country-made liquor and 10,000 liters of raw chemicals, with an estimated value exceeding Rs 5,24,000. The operation, conducted on March 4, 2024, at 00:15 am, was led by Assistant Police Inspector Deepak Vakchoure of Jejuri Police Station.

Acting on reliable information received from a secret informant about an individual named Santosh Rathod engaging in illegal alcohol brewing in Dholewadi village, the police swiftly launched a raid. At the location, two iron pans containing 10,000 liters of raw chemicals required for making Gavathi (desi) country liquor were discovered. Additionally, 35 blue plastic cans, each with a capacity of 35 liters and holding 1,225 liters of prepared Gavathi country liquor, were seized.

The raid also uncovered approximately 120 bags of black jaggery, each weighing 1 kg, along with various equipment and materials used in the production process. The total value of the seized items amounted to Rs 5,24,000. Raw and burnt chemicals, as well as wood firewood materials, were promptly destroyed on the spot.

Santosh Rathod, the alleged maker of the country-made liquor, managed to evade arrest by fleeing the scene upon the arrival of the police. A case has been registered under IPC Section 328 and Section 65 (F) of the Bombay Prohibition Act 1949 at Jejuri Police Station. The investigation is currently being conducted by Police Sub Inspector Mahesh Patil of Jejuri Police Station.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Pankanj Deshmukh, Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural, along with the support of Sanjay Jadhav, Additional Superintendent of Police, Baramati, and Shrikant Padule, Sub Divisional Police Officer, Bhor Division, Saswad. The raid was executed by the dedicated team of Assistant Police Inspectors Deepak Vakchoure and Sub Inspector Mahesh Patil, along with Police Constables Annasaheb Deshmukh, Pravin Shede, Khandagale, and others.
