Srinagar, India, August 2nd, 2023: In a significant development, the police in Jammu and Kashmir have arrested two individuals identified as Faisal Majeed Ganie and Nurul Kamran Ganie, both residents of Baramulla district. The suspects were described as “hybrid terrorists” with links to the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).

The security forces acted swiftly upon receiving a credible tip-off about the suspects’ activities. A mobile vehicle checkpoint was promptly established at Azadgunj in the bustling town of Baramulla. As the suspects noticed the checkpoint, they attempted to flee the scene, but the skilled security forces managed to apprehend them without any incident. A thorough personal search of the suspects resulted in the discovery of one pistol, one pistol magazine, four pistol rounds, and one grenade in their possession. The authorities immediately confiscated the weapons and ammunition, taking the suspects into custody.

Initial investigations have indicated that the apprehended individuals had collected the weapons and ammunition with the intention of carrying out terrorist activities in Baramulla town ahead of Independence Day. The term “hybrid terrorists” refers to individuals who engage in acts of terror and then attempt to blend back into their normal lives, making it challenging to track and apprehend them.
