Pune: The Kondhwa police have made an important arrest of an externed criminal who was found moving around in the city without obtaining prior permission. The accused, identified as Jayesh Sunil Bhandari (22), a resident of Mohammadwadi, had been externed from Pune city for a period of one year by the Wanawadi police.
During routine checks of police records and the list of externed criminals, the Kondhwa police received information that Jayesh Bhandari was present at Lullanagar Chowk. Acting under the guidance of senior officials, the police set up a trap and successfully apprehended him. When questioned about obtaining permission from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) or the court to enter the city, Jayesh admitted that he had not taken any permission. Consequently, legal action was taken against him under section 142 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
The arrest operation was carried out under the supervision of Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, DCP Vikrant Deshmukh, and ACP Shahuraje Salve. The team, led by Sr PI Santosh Sonawane, along with PIs Sanjay Mogale and Sandeep Bhosale, received instructions from API Anil Survase and worked diligently to apprehend the accused.
This arrest highlights the vigilance and proactive measures taken by law enforcement agencies to monitor the activities of externed criminals and maintain the safety and security of the city.
