Deccan police arrest 9-member gang for planning to commit dacoity; Police seize sickle and knife (VIDEO)

PUNE: The Deccan and Shivajinagar police laid a trap and arrested a gang of nine members who were about to rob a petrol pump on JM Road. They have seized a sickle, knife and other goods. The Deccan police took the action on Tuesday on the Mutha riverbed behind the Sambhaji garden.


The arrested accused have been identified as Gautam Alias Lakhan Ambadas Bansode (29), a resident of Rajendra Nagar, Ram Vilas Lokhande (23), a resident of Navi Peth, Sunil Babasaheb Kamble (20), a resident of Shivaji Nagar, Ashru Khandu Gawli (19), a resident of Dandekar Pul, Rohit Chanda Kamble (19), Rohan Kiran Gaikwad (19), a resident of Shivaji Nagar, Kiran Sitappa Khetri (20), a resident of Katraj, Omkar Balu Nanavare (21), a resident of Rajendra Nagar, Sham Vilas Lokhande (20), a resident of Navi Peth. An FIR has been registered at the Deccan police station under section 399 of the IPC and they have been arrested.


Officials of Deccan police station and staff were patrolling in their station limits when they received information that 9 to 10 people were consuming alcohol on the Mutha river bed behind Sambhaji Park. They had sharp weapons and they are talking about committing dacoity at Sai petrol pump on JM Road. The information was conveyed to Shivaji Nagar police and they were told to send their staff to the river bed. Meanwhile, the Deccan police went to the river bed in civil dress and laid a trap.

Officials of Deccan and Shivaji Nagar police station surrounded the accused and apprehended them at 1.30 am. When the accused were searched, they found sickle, knife, chilli powder, nylon rope and masks which were seized.


The action was taken under the guidance of CP Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Pravinkumar Patil, DCP Sandeep Singh Gill, ACP Vasant Kuwar, Sr PI Vipin Hasabnis and PI Shankar Salunkhe guided Shivaji Nagar police station’s API Ahiwale, PSI Meera Kavtikwar, Deccan police station’s API Shinde, policemen Gabhale, Borse, Gaikwad, Peter Mobile, driver Tambe, Balgandharva Marshal Sonwane, Tarange, Prabhat Marshal Koutkar, Mhaske, Inamdar and Bagule in taking the action.
