In a distressing incident, a resident of Pimple Saudagar fell prey to online fraud, losing a substantial sum of Rs 11.51 lakh. Sangvi Police have registered a case based on the complaint filed by the victim, Abhijit Ulhe, shedding light on the deceptive tactics employed by the fraudsters.

According to the Sangvi Police press release, the accused, identified as Mahika, initially enticed the victim with the promise of earning extra money through a work-from-home opportunity. The accused presented an online task to the victim, involving liking specific locations on Google, and consistently sent money to build trust.

Having gained the victim’s confidence, the accused then persuaded him to venture into cryptocurrency investments, specifically in BTC/USDT, on a Telegram group. The promise of high returns served as bait, leading the victim to invest a significant amount of Rs 11,51,984 in the said Telegram group.

However, as time passed, the victim received no returns on the investment, and attempts to contact the accused went unanswered. Faced with the realization of being swindled, Abhijit Ulhe took the matter to Sangvi Police, registering a case against the fraudsters.

The case has been filed under Sections 420, 406, 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with Section 66 (D) of the IT Act, highlighting the severity of the fraudulent activity. The police are actively investigating the matter to bring the culprits to justice.
