Pune, 6th July 2023: A disturbing incident has come to light in the Talegaon Dabhade area of Pune, involving a school principal who has been accused of allegedly instructing students to recite Christian prayers and installing CCTV cameras in the vicinity of the girls’ washroom. The incident gained attention after several Hindu activists visited the school premises following complaints from parents and reportedly assaulted the principal.
A video capturing the alleged assault has since gone viral on the internet. According to reports, Alexander Coates, the principal of DY Patil High School in Talegaon Dabhade, has been booked by the police in connection with the matter.
The activists who arrived at the school claimed that several parents had approached them, alleging that the school authorities were instructing their children to recite prayers from the Christian faith while disregarding Hindu festivals. Additionally, they raised concerns about the installation of CCTV cameras inside the girls’ toilet premises. The activists stated that their visit to the school confirmed the validity of these complaints.
“The Christian principal was allegedly promoting his religion among the students. We have demanded the suspension of the principal and other like-minded teachers. Furthermore, we will be filing a case against them for installing CCTV cameras inside the girls’ toilet,” one of the activists stated.
The police have acknowledged receiving a written complaint from parents on Tuesday and stated that further investigations are underway. As of now, no FIR has been registered in the case.
Sources have revealed that the school administration has placed the principal on long leave in light of the controversy.
