Businessman cheated of ₹1.21 crore under the pretext of providing goods at cheaper rates

PUNE: An incident has come to light wherein a businessman was cheated of ₹1 crore by a man who pretended to be a distributor of a famous company which markets its products online. The investigation has proved that the businessman was cheated under the pretext of providing goods at a cheaper rate.

A businessman has lodged a complaint at the Loni Kalbhor police station. An FIR has been registered against Chaitanya alias Ankit Bhausaheb Patil (34), a resident of Sangli district. The businessman had got acquainted with Patil. Patil had told the businessman that a company was going to sell products used on a daily basis at a cheaper price. Patil had told him that he had managed to give two-wheelers, mobiles, TVs, refrigerators, gold biscuits and tyres at a very cheap rate.

The accused had given laptops and mobiles at a cheaper rate. He was given gold ornaments of 10 tola from a jewellery shop by Patil. Patil had given goods worth ₹18 lakh at a cheap rate. By trapping him, Patil took ₹1.21 crore from the businessman. After getting the huge amount, Patil did not provide the goods.

After realising that he had been cheated, the businessman lodged a complaint with the police. PSI Tarte is probing the case.
