Black Market LPG Cylinders: Pune Police Make Arrest in Refilling Scheme

In a significant operation, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police have apprehended an individual from the Chikhali area of Pune, uncovering an illegal LPG cylinder refilling racket operating within the city. The case has been registered at Chikhali Police Station, and further investigations are underway.

The Chikhali Police Station officials executed a raid at a location in the Aherwadi area of Chikhali, conducted at approximately 2 pm on Wednesday. During the operation, it was discovered that the accused, identified as Ruturaj Arun Patil (21), a local resident of the area, was engaged in the illicit refilling of LPG cylinders into smaller containers. These refilled cylinders were subsequently loaded onto a tempo vehicle with the intent to distribute them in the black market.

The police successfully confiscated LPG cylinders valued at Rs 2,10,750 from the premises. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 379, 420, and 275 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), in addition to relevant sections of other related acts. The investigation into the matter is ongoing as authorities work to dismantle this illegal operation.
