Zoomcar App User Arrested: Cars Worth Rs 60 Lakh Recovered Near Rajasthan-Pakistan Border

In a startling turn of events, the Chandan Nagar Police in Pune have apprehended a Zoomcar app user for his alleged involvement in embezzlement and fraud, leading to a loss of Rs 60 lakh for the car rental company. The case has brought to light a duplicitous scheme that involved purchasing cars and then selling them in Rajasthan for illegal activities.

The incident came to the fore when Zoomcar filed a complaint, alleging a massive financial loss due to the accused’s actions. Subsequently, a case was registered under sections 420, 406, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, setting in motion a thorough investigation by the Chandan Nagar police.

During the course of their inquiry, the police team employed technical analysis methods and relied on confidential informants to trace the suspect, identified as Sufiyanje Chauhan. He was located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and was promptly apprehended by the police. The interrogation of Chauhan revealed a larger scheme involving his accomplice, Mohammed Sama. Their modus operandi involved purchasing cars from Mumbai and Pune and subsequently selling them to unidentified individuals in Rajasthan, where the vehicles were used for unlawful activities.

The investigation has uncovered that a car valued at Rs 20 lakh was seized in Barmer, Rajasthan. Further scrutiny of the case revealed that Chauhan had previously executed a fraudulent car purchase. Among the two cars sold in Rajasthan, one was valued at Rs 15 lakh, and the other was worth Rs 25 lakh. Law enforcement authorities have seized both of these vehicles as part of the ongoing investigation.
