Zero-Tolerance: Pune Traffic Police’s Crusade Against Noisy Motorbikes

In a resolute move to curb noise pollution and enforce traffic regulations, Pune’s vigilant traffic police recently took stringent action against 10 motorcyclists for tampering with their vehicle silencers. These bikers were causing disruptions in the vicinity of educational institutions in Wagholi, thereby drawing the attention of the traffic authorities. Such modifications not only violate the Motor Vehicles Act but also disturb local residents with unnecessary and disruptive noise.

Enforcing Regulations

According to the Motor Vehicles Act, any alterations or modifications to vehicles that affect their standard functioning are strictly prohibited. In this case, the culprits had made unauthorized changes to their motorcycle silencers, leading to disturbances in the area. In response to this breach, the traffic police are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that those who tamper with their two-wheeler silencers and violate traffic regulations face the consequences.

The Concern for Noise Pollution

Vijay Magar, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Traffic, expressed deep concern over riders who continue to make alterations that result in loud and disturbing noise from their motorcycles. This not only disrupts the peace of local residents but also poses a threat to road safety. As a result, a zero-tolerance policy for noise pollution has been instated. Numerous complaints from the public regarding such disturbances have prompted the traffic authorities to take assertive actions. Additional operations and rigorous measures are in the pipeline to effectively address this issue.

The crackdown on bikers for modified silencers by the Pune traffic police sends a clear message: violations of the Motor Vehicles Act, especially those that disrupt the peace and safety of the community, will not be tolerated. Noise pollution, in particular, is a matter of grave concern, and these actions are just the beginning of a robust campaign to address the issue and ensure that road regulations are upheld.
