Young Hockey Talents Soar: Round Glass Academy’s Spectacular Debut in Pune


In a spectacular display of skill and determination, the Round Glass Academy made a memorable debut at the 7th SNBP All-India Hockey Tournament (Boys’ Under-16), held at the Shiv Chhatrapathi Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune. The team’s historic 27-0 victory over Anwar Hockey Society in a Pool-G match took center stage on the opening day of the tournament.

Organized by the S.E Society’s SNBP Group of Institutes, under the auspices of Hockey India and Hockey Maharashtra, the tournament showcased thrilling matches and extraordinary performances by young hockey talents from across India.

The morning session witnessed a dominating performance by Bhongir Hockey Academy from Telangana, as they defeated Kolkata Worriers Kolkata 7-0 in a Pool-E encounter. Akash Saroj and Harsh Patel led the charge, with Shiv Kannaujia, Shobhit Kumar, and Amit Yadav contributing to the goal tally.

Tamil Nadu Hockey Academy showcased their prowess in a remarkable 14-0 victory over Ryan Institute, Mumbai, in Pool-A. Captain K Ajay’s hat-trick and several other scorers highlighted the goal-glut.

However, the standout performance of the day belonged to the debutants, Round Glass Academy, Punjab. They dominated the field with an astonishing 27-0 victory over last year’s third-placed Anwar Hockey Society in a Pool-G encounter. Samuel’s eight-goal heroics, complemented by four-goal feats from Sajan Rajbhar and Deepakpreet Singh, left spectators in awe.

Gurjot Singh, Jobanpreet Singh, Varinder Singh, Arshpreep Singh, and Damanpreet Singh added to Round Glass Academy’s impressive goal tally, making it the highest scoreline of the day.

In another thrilling match, R.K Roy Academy and Jai Hockey Academy played to a 1-1 draw in a Pool-H encounter, with both goals coming from penalty corners.

Sports Hostel Jhansi showcased their dominance with a 9-2 victory over Mumbai School Sports Association in Pool-B, with goals coming from various players, including a hat-trick by Pralahad Panday.

The 7th SNBP All-India Hockey Tournament’s opening day set the stage for exciting matches and remarkable achievements. Round Glass Academy’s historic win demonstrated the talent and potential of young hockey players, promising an action-packed tournament ahead.
