Yeolewadi : Frustration is mounting among motorists in Yeolewadi, particularly those commuting from Vitthal Rukmini Mandir, Sai Dwarika, and nearby areas, as prolonged road works and encroachments create daily traffic challenges. With one lane closed due to ongoing road construction, residents are struggling to navigate through the congested areas.
Mitesh Shah, a resident and daily commuter in Yeolewadi, voiced his concerns, stating, “The road work near Vitthal Rukmini Mandir has led to the closure of one lane, causing significant traffic issues. The PMC’s slow progress and failure to address encroachments make the situation even more challenging. Although construction is expected to finish soon, encroachments continue to narrow the open lane.”
Ryan Dennis, a Kondhwa resident, criticized the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for its road construction practices. He mentioned, “PMC excels at making excuses for subpar road repairs. Complaints are closed online as ‘Resolved,’ yet the bad roads persist. Even without monsoons, repaired sections break down within a month, leading to uneven road surfaces.”
Rohidas Konde, another resident of Yeolewadi, highlighted the delays in the concretization process. He said, “The road has been dug up for an extended period, and while the base is strengthened, the concretization part is progressing slowly. From Sai Dwarika to Shree Srushti, the ongoing road work causes daily traffic disruptions.”
Responding to the concerns, Sidram Patil, Junior Engineer at PMC, assured, “The concretizing work is underway and will be completed within one or two days.”
Residents remain hopeful for swift resolution to alleviate the daily traffic woes caused by the ongoing construction and encroachments.
