The safety of construction laborers in Pune has emerged as a pressing concern, with a rising number of fatal accidents reported on construction sites. Officials reveal a grim statistic: 119 laborers have lost their lives in various parts of the city due to work-related accidents.

Pune’s city police have taken action against contractors in numerous cases where essential safety equipment was not provided to workers during construction activities. In some instances, it has been discovered that vital safety precautions were overlooked, leading to tragic accidents. The police have stated their commitment to registering cases against builders and contractors whenever they find a failure to provide necessary safety gear, which has resulted in fatal accidents.

This year alone, 32 workers have tragically lost their lives in various accidents occurring on construction sites within the city. The Labor Commission officials are actively engaged in conducting regular workshops involving relevant stakeholders to address and mitigate laborer safety concerns at construction sites, striving to prevent further such accidents.

The alarming number of fatalities among construction workers underscores the critical importance of enforcing safety measures and regulations to safeguard the lives and well-being of those contributing to the city’s development.
