Winter Whispers: Pune and Mumbai Brace for Temperature Decline

As the winter season begins to make its presence felt, residents of Pune and Mumbai can anticipate cooler nights ahead. The minimum temperature in the state has recorded a drop to 14 to 15 degrees Celsius, signaling the gradual onset of colder weather. While the mercury remains above the average minimum temperature, a shift in weather patterns is expected to bring a chill to the air.

Weather Update:

Former Meteorological Officer Manikrao Khule suggests that several districts, including Nashik, Nagar, Pune, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Amravati, Bhandara, Gondia, Wardha, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli, may experience a slight fall in minimum temperature starting from Friday (November 17). This change is part of a larger weather shift anticipated in North India, particularly the western Himalayan region, due to a western disturbance from Sunday (November 19), leading to rain and snow.

Regional Impact:

While Mumbai might not witness relief from the maximum temperature, certain districts like Kolhapur, Solapur, Nanded, Parbhani, and Hingoli could experience a somewhat cloudy atmosphere between November 19 and 23. This cloud cover might contribute to a decrease in maximum temperatures in these districts, although no significant rainfall is predicted.

Forecast for Mumbai:

The minimum temperature in Mumbai is expected to remain relatively stable until November 22, with a slight drop anticipated thereafter. Sanjay Gandhi National Park and forested areas in Mumbai and Greater Mumbai might experience a mild decrease in morning temperatures. However, Mumbai’s minimum temperature is projected to hover around 24 degrees Celsius until November 20, with a potential drop to 22 degrees on November 21 and 22. Concurrently, maximum temperatures during this period are forecasted to range between 35 and 36 degrees Celsius.
