Pune Metro

PUNE: The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) is carrying out a final inspection of the extended section of Pune Metro. This inspection will be completed by the end of this week. There is a possibility that PM Modi may inaugurate the extended section of Pune Metro. Efforts are underway at the highest level, said sources in MahaMetro.

At present, the Pune Metro service is operational on two routes. The service on routes of the PCMC office to Fugewadi and Vanaz to Garware College started on March 6, 2022. The work on the 13 km extended section from Fugewadi to District Court and Garware College to Ruby Hall station has been completed. A successful trial has been completed. During the visit of PM Narendra Modi, many important development projects will be inaugurated and the Pune Metro project is one of them.

MahaMetro is planning the schedule accordingly. PM Modi had flagged off the inaugural service of Pune Metro and efforts are underway to ensure that he should flag off the extended route. The CMRS and his team are carrying out an inspection of the route. Earlier, the CMRS had thrice inspected the extended section of Pune Metro and he is carrying out the final inspection at present. He is inspecting the metro route, signal system and the stations. Later, the final report will be sent to MahaMetro.

If CMRS gives his nod, the report will be sent to the state government which will decide on the starting of service on the extended section. Hectic efforts are underway to ensure that PM Modi inaugurates the extended section of Pune Metro, MahaMetro sources said.
