WIKA India Lays Foundation Stone for School Building in Pune, Strengthening Commitment to CSR

WIKA India, a global instrumentation major, has reaffirmed its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) by laying the foundation stone for a new school building in Kesnand village, Pune, on July 19, 2023.

The foundation stone was laid by Mr. Alexander Wiegand, Chairman and CEO of WIKA Group of Companies, in the presence of Mr. Andreas Keiger, Executive Vice President – EMEA/India, WIKA Group, and Mr. Gaurav Bawa, Senior Vice President – WIKA India Group.

Recognizing the challenges faced by the Zilla Parishad Primary School in Kesnand village due to inadequate space, WIKA has taken the initiative to construct five fully equipped classrooms. This move aims to facilitate uninterrupted education for the students in the village and increase the school’s seating capacity by 200 students. The new facility will provide an opportunity for more students, especially those from lower financial backgrounds, to access quality education and promote primary education in the area.

During the ceremony, Mr. Alexander Wiegand expressed his gratitude for WIKA’s presence in Kesnand village for the past 25 years. He emphasized that education is the right of every child and plays a crucial role in shaping the future of individuals, communities, and the country as a whole. WIKA is proud to contribute to providing education to every child in Kesnand village.

Mr. Andreas Keiger also commended the initiative, stating that it exemplifies how businesses can contribute to the well-being and development of society through CSR activities. He expressed hope that WIKA’s efforts to enable education for children would have a profound impact on their lives.

Sharing his experiences and the support received from the village community over the years, Mr. Gaurav Bawa emphasized the significance of Kesnand village to WIKA’s growth in India. He expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the community and highlighted the school’s contribution to nurturing well-rounded and civic-minded individuals, many of whom have become prominent leaders in the community. He further expressed his hopes that the school’s expansion would encompass every child in the village and foster a bright future for them.

The construction of the school building is expected to be completed by February 2024. Through this initiative, WIKA aims to make a positive and lasting impact on the students, teachers, and the entire community, fostering growth, development, and progress for years to come.
