Water Woes in Kharadi: Residents Seek Permanent Solution to Low Water Pressure

Residents in certain areas of Kharadi are grappling with ongoing issues of low-pressure water supply, prompting them to seek intervention from the civic administration. Despite previous attempts to address the problem, locals emphasize the need for a long-term and sustainable solution to ensure consistent water supply.

Former corporator Mahendra Pathare recently engaged with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials to shed light on the challenges faced by specific pockets in Kharadi due to inadequate water supply. Pathare expressed frustration, stating that improvements are short-lived, and a comprehensive, lasting resolution is necessary. He emphasized the importance of regular inspections to identify and rectify the root causes.

Satish Mane, a resident, cited the persistent low water pressure in the area, attributing it to its location at the tail-end of the distribution system. This issue becomes particularly critical during water cuts, affecting the daily lives of residents.

Mane pointed out that not all areas in Kharadi receive water from the Bhama Askhed dam, proposing that a comprehensive supply strategy from the dam could alleviate the problem and improve water access for all residents.

Officials from the PMC acknowledged the concerns raised by residents and pledged to conduct spot visits to identify and address issues contributing to low water pressure. They also committed to exploring ways to extend the duration of water supply, considering potential problems in the distribution lines.
