Water Woes Continue: Pune-Keshavnagar Mundhwa Residents Voice Concerns Over Repairs Delay

Pune, August 22, 2023 – A rupture in the water supply pipeline within the Keshavnagar Mundhwa area resulted in a prolonged four-day struggle for local residents, leaving them frustrated and distressed due to the extended repair process. The slow response from civic authorities in addressing the situation has triggered discontent among citizens who had to endure days without water. The water supply was only reinstated on Tuesday, ending a hiatus that had begun on the previous Friday.

The situation escalated when a sewage pipe also burst near Solapur Road, adjacent to the ongoing repairs of the water pipeline. The dual failures culminated in severe water supply disruptions that impacted the Keshavnagar and Mundhwa neighborhoods.

Frustrated by the lack of communication and timely action, residents sought answers from water supply department officials, only to receive unsatisfactory responses. Despite promises of water restoration during late hours, disappointed residents found the water tank at Keshavnagar unattended upon their visit.

The delayed response prompted citizens to express their dissatisfaction with the Municipal Corporation’s handling of the situation. Concerned individuals reached out to Anirudh Pavaskar, the Head of the Water Supply Department, whose intervention spurred necessary action.

In response to the complaints, Pavaskar initiated the repair process, ultimately leading to the restoration of water supply in the affected region on Tuesday.

Pavaskar shed light on the logistical challenges faced during the repair process, stating, “The disruption in water supply to Keshavnagar Mundhwa was caused by a damaged water channel. Given the heavy daytime traffic on the road, repair work was confined to nighttime hours, resulting in a certain degree of delay. As of today, the water supply has been successfully reinstated.”
