Wake Up Pune’ Initiative Gains Momentum: Congress Leader Takes on Traffic Woes

In a bid to tackle the longstanding issue of traffic congestion in Pune, Mohan Joshi, the state Vice-President of the Congress Party, has launched the ‘Wake Up Pune’ initiative. The 15-day campaign, which commenced on February 5th, 2024, and concludes on February 20th, aims to garner public support in reducing and ultimately eliminating traffic issues across Pune city.

The scope of the campaign encompasses all areas of Pune, with the exception of Hadapsar and Khadakwasla. Collaborating with volunteers from Wake Up Pune and other non-governmental organizations, the initiative introduces pocket-friendly QR scanners as a means to empower citizens.

The QR scanners enable people to access a portal where they can register complaints related to traffic woes and articulate the challenges they face. Simultaneously, individuals are encouraged to propose solutions to alleviate the prevailing traffic situation.

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the city authorities, Mohan Joshi challenged their lack of initiative in addressing the traffic situation. He emphasized that in a progressive city like Pune, it is regrettable that citizens have to initiate campaigns to resolve these issues.

The ‘Wake Up Pune’ campaign kicked off at Vimannagar at 6:00 PM on February 5th, drawing attention to the urgency of the matter.

A commuter shared, “I strategically plan my commute, avoiding peak hours in this area. I leave my office a bit later from Dhole Patil Road to steer clear of traffic.”

Mohan Joshi concluded, “If this campaign does not yield the desired results, I have long-term plans to conquer the issue of traffic in Pune.”
