Wakad Prodigy Strikes Gold: Samarth Hegde Triumphs with Double Gold in National Karate Championship

Wakad – In a spectacular display of skill and determination, Samarth Hegde, a young talent from Wakad, clinched two gold medals in both Kata and Kumite categories at the Karate Mahotsav National Championship held in Howrah on January 7, 2024.

Laxmish Hegde, Samarth’s proud father, expressed his joy, saying, “We as parents are immensely proud to witness Samarth kickstart 2024 with remarkable achievements, securing two gold medals in Kata and Kumite. According to information shared by Laxmish Hegde, Maharashtra’s Karate students left an indelible mark on the Karate Mahotsav National Championship Season 1 in Kolkata on January 7, 2024.

Under the tutelage of Shihan Ashok Vetal, along with coaches Tej Pratap and Hemant Kumawat, Vaishnav, the team secured an impressive tally of 10+ gold medals in both Kata and Kumite. Tej, Hemant, and Vaishnav individually participated and clinched gold medals in both categories. Alongside the coaching staff, Pune’s 15+ champions, representing Maharashtra, accomplished a stunning feat, bagging 10+ gold, 5+ silver, and 5+ bronze medals in the national event. This outstanding performance underscores the relentless hard work and dedication put in by both coaches and students to excel and bring glory back home.

Among the talented students who earned medals are Samarth Hegde, Devyanshi Sahu, Priyani Jakhotiya, Kanak Deshpande, Yuvan Puri, Parineeti Shedge, Debangana Saha, Niloy Pathak, and Arbaz Khan.
