Wagholi Traffic Jam Solution: Temporary Ban on Private Bus Stops

No Parking, No Halting for Private Travel Buses in Wagholi

Traffic Management Directive Issued for Kesnand Phata

In response to persistent traffic jams at Kesnand Phata petrol pump, the Pune Traffic Department has issued a temporary directive to prevent private travel agency buses from halting or parking in the Wagholi area. This directive, effective immediately, covers the stretch from Wagheshwar Chowk, Kesnand Phata to Bakori Phata.

Directive Details

Private tour buses stopping on the highway in Wagholi during the evening and night hours to pick up passengers have been a significant cause of traffic congestion. The temporary order, issued by Deputy Commissioner of the Pune Traffic Department, Rohidas Pawar, aims to alleviate these issues by prohibiting the halting or parking of travel buses along this stretch until further notice.

Public Involvement

Deputy Commissioner Pawar has invited the public to submit any objections or recommendations regarding this directive in writing to the Yerawada Traffic Deputy Commissioner’s Office by June 18. This initiative seeks to ensure community feedback is considered before a final order is issued.

Background and Impact

The road at Kesnand Phata, leading towards the city, is notably narrow. Daily, a significant number of private travel buses operate from Pune to various regions, including Nagar, Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Khandesh. The Bharat Petrol Pump at Kesnand Phata serves as a major pickup point, causing severe traffic congestion from evening to night as buses stop to collect passengers.

Temporary Order and Future Actions

In light of the traffic problems, Deputy Commissioner Pawar’s temporary order bans the halting or parking of travel buses from Wagheshwar Chowk, Kesnand Phata to Bakori Phata. The final order will be issued after considering the suggestions and objections from the public, with exemptions for essential service vehicles such as fire brigade trucks, police vehicles, and ambulances.
