Last Chance for Eligible Voters to Enroll Ahead of Lok Sabha Polls

With the voter registration deadline fast approaching in Pune, election officials have reported a significant surge in applications, particularly for the Baramati Lok Sabha seat, ahead of the upcoming polls. As the window for registration narrows, eligible citizens are urged to seize the opportunity to enroll and exercise their democratic right.

The Baramati Lok Sabha constituency, which is slated for polling on May 7, has witnessed an influx of over 50,000 applications since January, underscoring the enthusiasm among citizens to participate in the electoral process. Of these applications, 6,294 are awaiting processing and are expected to be completed by April 18, ensuring that new voters are duly registered before the deadline.

As per election guidelines, voter registration remains open until 10 days before the last day of nominations for each phase of elections. For constituencies in Pune, Shirur, and Maval, the last day for voter registration is April 15, aligned with the nomination deadline of April 25. Meanwhile, registrations for the fifth phase are accepted until April 23, with the nomination deadline set for May 3.

The Baramati constituency, encompassing six Assembly constituencies and boasting a sizable electorate of 23.62 lakh individuals, plays a pivotal role in shaping electoral outcomes in the region.

District collector Suhas Diwase has assured a streamlined process for clearing new voter applications, emphasizing that no deletions of voter names will occur during this crucial period. Applicants are encouraged to register as new voters or request a change in constituency by filling out Form 8 to ensure their inclusion in the electoral rolls.

Despite occasional server glitches reported by some applicants, efforts are underway to address these challenges and facilitate a seamless voter registration process. With the Lok Sabha elections on the horizon, eligible voters are urged to act promptly and ensure their voices are heard at the ballot box.
