Violence Erupts in Pune Restaurant: Techie Attacked for Safety Concerns

In a disturbing incident, a 42-year-old individual was subjected to physical assault and verbal abuse inside a bar and restaurant in Pune’s Sutarwadi area. The altercation ensued when he objected to children being present in the designated smoking zone within the restaurant. The confrontation escalated, leading to a violent assault on the victim and his friend, and even pushing his wife. Consequently, the victim has lodged a formal complaint with the Pimpri Chinchwad Police.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:45 pm inside a restaurant and bar. The victim, accompanied by his wife and friends, was enjoying dinner when he noticed children playing in the smoking zone. Concerned for their safety, he requested a restaurant staff member to request the parents to relocate the children.

However, this simple request took a distressing turn when one individual present in the restaurant took offense to the techie’s stance. He began hurling insults at the man, chastising him for not allowing children into the specific area reserved for smoking.

As tensions escalated, additional individuals joined in, culminating in a violent attack on the victim. In his attempt to intervene, the victim’s friend was also subjected to physical violence, resulting in a head injury. The victim subsequently reported the incident to the authorities, leading to the registration of a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 327 (voluntarily causing hurt), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 142 (unlawful assembly), 146 (rioting), and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offense committed in prosecution of common object).

Hinjewadi Police Station is conducting a comprehensive investigation into the matter, and further updates will follow as the case unfolds.
