Varroc Vengsarkar Academy Dominates U14 Varroc Cup Opener with 67-Run Victory

Chinchwad: The U14 Varroc Cup 2023, hosted by PCMC’s Varroc Vengsarkar Cricket Academy, began in spectacular fashion at the Thergaon ground, showcasing young talents and their cricketing prowess.

The official inauguration of the tournament was graced by Hanumant Shinde, Executive Engineer of the Sports Architecture Department at the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. Accompanying him were the academy’s esteemed coaches, including Chandan Gangawane, Shadab Sheikh, Rahul Vengsarkar, Bhushan Suryavanshi, and Dr. Vijay Patil.

In a thrilling 45-over contest held at the Dilip Vengsarkar Cricket Academy ground in Thergaon, Varroc Vengsarkar Academy secured a resounding victory against Cricket Next Academy (CNA) with a 67-run lead. Varroc won the toss and chose to bat first, setting the stage for a competitive clash.

Om Patil, donning the Varroc Vengsarkar Academy colors, delivered an outstanding performance, amassing 91 runs from 104 balls. He was well-supported by Tarun Shrikrishnan, who contributed 47 runs off 49 balls. Aadarsh Gavhane and other players chipped in, helping Varroc reach a total of 245 runs, with a loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 45 overs.

CNA’s bowling attack was led by Shourya Deshmukh and Jeet Telisara, both of whom managed to secure 2 wickets each. Shourya Jadhav and Shreeyash Yeole each contributed with 1 wicket.

In their quest to chase down the target of 246 runs, Shreyas Khillare delivered a remarkable individual performance, notching an unbeaten century with 105 runs off 133 balls. However, the rest of the CNA batters couldn’t muster significant contributions, and they concluded their 45 overs with a total of 178 runs, losing 4 wickets.

Varroc Vengsarkar Academy emerged triumphant, securing a convincing victory with a 67-run lead, and Om Patil was deservedly named the Man of the Match for his impressive performance.

The upcoming match is scheduled to be a thrilling showdown between Aryans Cricket Academy and Deccan Gymkhana.
