Van Gogh 360° Exhibition Unveils Immersive Art Experience in Pune, Enchanting Art Lovers

Pune: Art enthusiasts in Pune are in for a treat as the Van Gogh 360° exhibition promises a unique and immersive experience, allowing visitors to step inside the paintings of the legendary artist Vincent van Gogh. The exhibition, set to mesmerize art lovers, will unfold at the Nursery Grounds beside the Passport Office in Mundhwa, starting from February 28 for three weeks.

Roma Makkad, the spokesperson of Van Gogh 360°, shared insights into the innovative exhibition setup, stating, “It is a tent-based setup with projectors and screens. As the name of the exhibit suggests, the paintings are animated to 360 degrees, so elements of the paintings will be on the walls, ceiling, and the floor under your feet.” The immersive experience goes beyond merely observing art, allowing visitors to be surrounded by the animated paintings.

The exhibition comprises three distinct rooms, beginning with an education room where visitors can delve into the life of the artist, his mental health struggles, and details about each painting on display. The journey continues into the immersive room, where the paintings come to life through animation, followed by a merchandise room before the exit.

Makkad emphasized the thoughtful approach to visitor experience, saying, “Visitors can book one-hour slots, and we let a batch of 40-50 people enter at a time. However, we don’t rush anyone as we want them to take their time. Sitting down to look at art and reflecting is something citizens hardly get to do in metro cities nowadays.”

With a diverse audience in different cities, the organizers anticipate a significant turnout of art students in Pune. Shivani Halder, a fine arts student, expressed her excitement, stating, “This exhibition combines modern technology with classic art. This is the way forward for the art world, where more exhibitions will incorporate such animation of artwork.”

Meenakshi Joshi, another art student, highlighted the relevance of the exhibition in the context of mental health discussions surrounding Van Gogh globally. She expressed hopes for collaborations with educational institutions to make the experience accessible to a broader student audience.
