Shocking Incident Unfolds as Officer Uses Service Rifle; Investigation Underway”

In a tragic turn of events, a 28-year-old police constable Bharat Datta Asmar, took his own life with his service rifle while on duty at the Khadak police station in Pune. The incident, which occurred late Thursday night at the Lohiya Nagar police chowki, has left authorities and colleagues stunned.

According to police officials, the constable, whose identity has been withheld, informed a colleague about a headache and retired to the staff restroom on the chowki’s first floor. Once inside, he locked the door and, tragically, used his service carbine gun to take his own life around 3 am.

The heartbreaking discovery was made on Friday morning when the constable failed to emerge from the restroom as expected. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.

DCP Sanddep Singh Gill expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “Unfortunately, our policeman died after he shot himself using a service rifle. We are investigating the exact cause behind the incident.”

A case of accidental death has been registered at the Khadak police station as investigations continue to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
