Unraveling the Controversy: Bombay High Court Revokes Appointment of Sassoon Hospital Dean

In a significant legal turn of events, the Bombay High Court has nullified the appointment of Dr. Sanjeev Thakur as the Dean of Sassoon General Hospital. This decision stems from a legal battle initiated by his predecessor, Dr. Vinayak Kale, in the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT) following an abrupt replacement.

Dr. Thakur’s appointment encountered legal hurdles, prompting an appeal to the Bombay High Court after an unfavorable MAT verdict. The recent High Court hearing resulted in the annulment of Dr. Thakur’s appointment, potentially paving the way for the reinstatement of Dr. Vinayak Kale as the Dean of Sassoon General Hospital.

This development unfolds against the backdrop of the controversy surrounding the extended presence of Lalit Patil, a key figure in a drug racket, at Sassoon Hospital.

Dr. Kale, in response to the ruling, commented, “Following the MAT hearing, an immediate appeal was filed in the Bombay High Court. The state government’s appointment of Dr. Thakur has now been revoked. Once the official copy of the ruling is received, the medical education department of the state government will issue orders, and subsequent actions will be taken.”
