Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Allocates ₹36 Crores for Wadgaon-Warje Service Road on Bypass Highway

In a significant development aimed at improving traffic conditions and enhancing road infrastructure, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has approved ₹36 crores for the construction of a service road from Wadgaon to Warje on the bypass highway. This decision comes in response to the appeals made by MLA Bhimrao Tapkir during a public event held at Chandani Chowk in the Khadakwasla constituency.

Addressing Traffic Issues

MLA Bhimrao Tapkir highlighted the pressing need to address traffic congestion and reduce accidents around the Jambhulwadi Daripul tunnel on the Mumbai-Bangalore highway. To tackle this issue, Tapkir proposed the construction of a flyover from the Swaminarayan Temple to Narhe Bhumkar Bridge Chowk. The request for the allocation of necessary funds and approval for this project was presented to Union Minister Gadkari.

Infrastructure Upgrades

The development plans also include infrastructure upgrades in the Wadgaon Budruk and Narhe areas. A 12-meter-wide additional development plan (DP) road on both sides needs to be constructed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). This road aims to ease traffic flow and enhance connectivity. Additionally, proposals were made for the construction of underpasses and wider subways at various locations along the highway to improve traffic management.

Immediate Action and Allocation of Funds

Previously, a detailed project report (DPR) was drafted for the construction of the service road between Wadgaon and Warje. Upon receiving the proposal during the event at Chandani Chowk, Union Minister Gadkari swiftly responded by approving ₹36 crores for the project. This allocation is expected to cover the costs associated with the construction of the 12-meter-wide service road on both sides of the highway, as well as the required infrastructure enhancements.

Sanjay Kadam, the Pune project director of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), provided insights into the project details. The proposed service road will span from Hotel Vishwas at Wadgaon and connect to Sinhagad Road. The road will traverse the region, crossing the canals and streams, and will include the construction of bridges and underpasses. The overall aim is to improve traffic flow and connectivity while addressing the existing road infrastructure challenges.

This allocation of funds underscores the commitment of the authorities to enhance road infrastructure and address traffic concerns, ultimately contributing to a smoother and safer travel experience for commuters in the area.
