Undri Residents Take a Stand: ‘No Water, No Vote, No Tax’ Amidst PMC’s Persistent Neglect

In a bold move against the persistent neglect from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), residents of Undri village and its surrounding localities have declared a resolute stance: “No Water, No Vote, No Tax.” Despite being incorporated into the PMC for seven years, these areas continue to grapple with the absence of essential amenities, including water and proper drainage systems.

Dilip Shah, President of the Undri Residents Association, along with former Gram Panchayat members Jayashree Punekar and Dilip Shah, have brought attention to the dire situation. They question the rationale behind the PMC’s substantial property tax collections when basic services remain conspicuously absent.

Despite numerous pleas, protests, and appeals to local officials, including ex-MLAs and municipal leaders, the PMC has consistently failed to address the grievances of Undri residents. In response to this continued neglect, all local societies have united in a pledge to boycott future elections and withhold property tax payments until the PMC fulfills its obligation to provide water and essential services.

Representatives from various societies, including Astonia Classic Society, Icon Residency, Ira Society, Bhoomi Spring Town Society, Atur Nagar Society, Nyati Erica, Nyati Esteban, Nyati Chesterfield, Nyati Windchimes, and Bhoomi Spring Town Society, voiced their solidarity with the resolution during a recent gathering.
