Pune, 14th August 2023: Members of the Uddhav Balasahen Thackeray party have staged a protest at the Pune Metro Office, situated at the Civil Court Interchange Station, advocating for the prioritization of local youths from Pune and Maharashtra for job opportunities within the Pune Metro system. The party’s city unit organized a demonstration on Monday afternoon, raising these critical concerns.
Party leaders expressed their discontent over the alleged publishing of job recruitment advertisements for the Pune Metro in states outside Maharashtra, rather than giving precedence to local youths from the region. The leaders further conveyed their intention to initiate a protest resembling the distinctive approach of the Shiv Sena party if the metro officials fail to accord preference to local candidates during the recruitment process.
Amid the protest, party leaders articulated an additional demand: that two metro stations, namely Ruby Hall Clinic and Phugewadi, be named after eminent leaders who have significantly contributed to the history of the state. The party members criticized the Metro officials for what they perceived as arbitrary naming choices for the metro stations.
