Uchijima and Smith Set for Epic Showdown in NECC Deccan ITF 50K Women’s Tennis Tournament Finals

The 22nd edition of the NECC Deccan ITF W50 Women’s Tennis Tournament is gearing up for an exhilarating singles finals clash between former champion Moyuka Uchijima of Japan and qualifier Tina Nadine Smith of Australia. The prestigious tournament, organized by Deccan Gymkhana and sponsored by the National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC), has witnessed thrilling matches, setting the stage for an exciting showdown in the finals.

In the singles semifinals, third seed Moyuka Uchijima displayed her prowess by defeating top seed Darja Semenistaja of Latvia in a nail-biting match that lasted 2 hours and 08 minutes. Uchijima secured the victory with a scoreline of 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(5), showcasing her determination to claim the title.

On the other side of the draw, qualifier Tina Nadine Smith of Australia, who made her way from the qualifying rounds, exhibited her resilience by overcoming a slow start to defeat Slovakian Dalila Jakupovic with a score of 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-0, earning her spot in the finals.

In the doubles finals, the fourth-seeded pair of Alexandra Eala from the Philippines and Latvian Darja Semenistaja toppled the top-seeded duo of Naiktha Bains from Great Britain and Hungarian Fanni Stollar with a score of 7-6(8), 6-3, securing the doubles championship.

The prize distribution ceremony saw Alexandra Eala and Darja Semenistaja receiving the winner’s trophy, 50 ITF points, and $2229.51 (Rs.185316), while the runner-up pair, Naiktha Bains and Fanni Stollar, received the trophy, 33 ITF points, and $1114.82 (Rs.92663).
