UAE’s SAIF Zone Spotlights Global Business Prospects for Pune Enterprises

The Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CEPA) signed by India and the UAE represents a significant leap forward in trade relations between the two nations. Businesses from India and the UAE are already capitalizing on the benefits of duty waivers and increased market access provided by the CEPA. This move is not only bolstering bilateral trade but also facilitating two-way investment flows.

In alignment with this development, ASSOCHAM (Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) organized One-to-One Meetings on October 23 and 24 in Pune. These meetings brought together delegates from the Sharjah Airport International Free Zone, Government of Sharjah, UAE, and ASSOCHAM members from Pune. The events were conducted with the support of the Deccan Chamber Of Commerce Industries And Agriculture, Pune; World Sikh Chamber of Commerce; and Rifah Chamber of Commerce.

The Pune-based industries participating in these meetings gained insights into the advantages of the India-UAE CEPA. They explored how Indian companies can extend their global footprint by establishing branches and subsidiaries, with the UAE serving as a strategic base for entering and exporting to other Gulf countries, Africa, Europe, and more. Over 70 companies actively engaged in these informative sessions.

Mr. Raed Bukhatir, Commercial Director, SAIF Zone, Government of Sharjah, UAE, emphasized, “The demand for Indian products in the UAE and other GCC markets is substantial, and Indian exporters should seize this opportunity. With the implementation of the CEPA, the UAE is poised to become a significant re-export hub. SAIF Zone offers numerous promising opportunities and incentives for Indian companies, enabling investors to thrive. For Indian enterprises eyeing Middle Eastern, North African, and Central Asian markets, Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF Zone) can serve as a catalyst for global expansion. The synergies between Pune-based industries and the UAE are significant, which underscores the importance of these meetings in Pune to raise awareness among industrialists and support them in establishing a global presence.”
