Two Men Electrocuted to Death in Kothrud; Cable Operator Booked for Negligence

Kothrud, 14th July 2023: The Pune City Police have taken action against a cable operator for negligence in connection with the electrocution deaths of two men. The tragic incident occurred on May 4 near Sutardara in Kothrud.

According to the police, the deceased individuals were employed by the cable operator company N P Cable Networks, which was operating without a valid license. Kundlik Laxman Shinde and Swapnil Shivram Bodake, the two victims, were assigned the task of providing a new cable connection for a customer. While laying the cable, they accidentally came into contact with high-tension power cables, resulting in electrocution.

Both men sustained severe burn injuries in the incident and were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, they tragically succumbed to their injuries. The family members of the deceased have alleged that the cable operator failed to provide proper safety equipment for the job.

A case has been registered at Kothrud Police Station against the owner of N P Cable Networks under section 304(a) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertains to causing death by negligence. The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
