Tragic Incident in Junnar: Elderly Couple Dies of Suffocation in House Fire

Junnar, 15th July 2023: A devastating incident occurred in Sablewadi village, Junnar Taluka of Pune, where a former Sarpanch of the village and his wife tragically lost their lives due to suffocation caused by a fire that broke out inside their house late at night.

The deceased have been identified as Maruti Bhau Sable (83) and his wife Putabai Maruti Sable (73), who were residents of Sablewadi village. It is reported that the fire started inside their house during a power outage on Thursday night. The couple had lit a lamp before going to bed, and unfortunately, the table caught fire, which quickly spread to other household items.

Upon realizing the fire, both Maruti Bhau and Putabai attempted to escape by heading towards the bathroom. However, the excessive inhalation of smoke caused them to collapse, resulting in their tragic demise. The incident came to light on Friday morning.

According to reports, the house was locked from the inside, and as the fire engulfed various household items, the entire house became filled with smoke. Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that the couple’s cause of death was suffocation due to the inhalation of excessive smoke. Authorities are conducting further investigations to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
