In a tragic incident, a sales executive met with a fatal accident after falling from the sixth floor of an under-construction building while showing flats to customers. The incident, which occurred on December 23, 2023, at Nisarga Belrose Society in Wakad, has sparked concerns over safety protocols at construction sites.
The deceased, identified as Ashish Zaveri (43), was working as a sales executive at the construction site. According to the FIR filed by Ashish’s wife with the Hinjawadi police station, a case has been registered against contractor Gundu Kasnu Pawar (40) and head of the sales department Abhishek Abhay Devane (26), both residents of the vicinity.
The FIR outlines the circumstances leading to the tragic fall. On the day of the incident, Ashish was showing flats to a prospective customer on the sixth floor of the building. While passing by the lift duct area, Ashish encountered water and wet concrete, with no provision of lights to indicate the hazard. As a result, he lost his balance and fell into the lift duct.
The complaint alleges negligence on the part of the construction contractor and the head of the sales department for failing to ensure the safety of workers at the site.
The accused, Gundu Pawar and Abhishek Devane, have been booked under Sections 304-A and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Hinjawadi Police Station. The investigation into the matter is ongoing as authorities seek to ascertain the full extent of accountability and take necessary actions to prevent such incidents in the future.
