In a deeply unfortunate incident that occurred in Pune on Monday, a 65-year-old individual lost their life when they were struck by a Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus. This tragic event unfolded near Seven Loves Chowk on Shankar Seth Road, around 8:10 pm. Local law enforcement has taken action against the bus driver involved.
According to the formal complaint lodged at the Khadak Police Station, the victim has been identified as Vasant Pukhraj Jain (65), a resident of the Gultekdi area. Mr. Jain was riding his scooter at the time of the accident when he was struck by the PMPML bus. This collision resulted in severe injuries to Mr. Jain, and he was immediately rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention. Unfortunately, medical professionals at the hospital declared him deceased.
In response to this tragic incident, the police have initiated legal proceedings against the PMPML bus driver. The driver is facing charges under sections 279 and 304 (a) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), as well as sections 184 and 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act. The investigation into this matter is currently ongoing.
