Tragedy Strikes Alandi as Transformer Blast Claims One Life and Injures Seven

In a tragic turn of events, one person lost their life, and seven others sustained injuries in a transformer blast incident in Alandi, Solu, today. The blast, which occurred in a Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) transformer, has sparked concerns and conflicting reports regarding the sequence of events.

Swift Response to the Crisis: Upon receiving reports of the blast, fire personnel and police swiftly responded, transporting the injured to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. The explosion also ignited a gas cylinder in a neighboring home, further complicating the situation. Fire brigade personnel from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation are actively working to contain the fire, with additional details still awaited.

Contrasting Accounts: Eyewitnesses at the scene attribute the incident to a transformer blast, which subsequently led to the unfortunate accident. However, the MSEDCL denies any responsibility for the fire accident, asserting that the transformer in question was non-functional for the past six months due to unpaid bills.

MSEDCL’s Denial: MSEDCL released an official statement denying the allegations concerning the transformer blast. According to their investigation, the non-functional transformer was inspected by Assistant Engineer Sandeep Kurhade and Deputy Executive Engineer Vijay Gargote. They reported that the 63KVA capacity transformer, which supplies power to only one consumer, was not the cause of the accident. The consumer, whose connection had been cut due to non-payment, is cited as the reason for the transformer’s inactivity.

Authorities are now engaged in a thorough investigation to ascertain the true cause of the incident and determine whether the transformer blast and the subsequent injuries are indeed linked.
