Pune: An unfortunate accident occurred on the Pune Mumbai Expressway at the Khandala Ghat, where a large container overturned, blocking all three lanes in the Khandala tunnel. The incident resulted in two people sustaining injuries, and traffic towards Mumbai came to a standstill. Commuters traveling from Pune to Mumbai were advised to take an alternate route via the old Mumbai-Pune National Highway until the overturned container is cleared.
The incident took place on Wednesday around 11:15 am. Prompt action was taken by the Khandala Highway personnel, Lonavla City Police, Devdoot Emergency Team, and IRB as soon as they received information about the accident. They immediately reached the spot to assess the situation and initiate the process of removing the container.
Thankfully, there was no loss of life reported in the accident, but the injuries to the two individuals serve as a reminder of the importance of road safety and caution while driving on the expressway. The authorities are working diligently to clear the debris and ensure that normal traffic flow is restored as quickly as possible.
