Traffic Diversions in Pune for Navaratri: Ensuring Devotees’ Safety and Convenience

With the advent of the auspicious Navaratri festival and the expected surge of devotees to various temples in Pune, the city’s traffic police have rolled out strategic diversions to enhance traffic flow and the safety of worshipers.

During this significant festival, several major temples in the city, such as Shree Tambadi Jogeshwari Temple, Shree Chatushringi Temple, Shree Bhavani Mata Temple in Bhawani Peth, and Shree Mahalakshmi Temple in Sarasbagh, will experience temporary adjustments to the regular traffic routes. In these areas surrounding the temples, certain roads have been temporarily closed to vehicular traffic.

One of the prominent temple locations drawing a multitude of devotees during Navaratri is the Shree Tambadi Jogeshwari Temple in Budhwar Peth. Starting from Sunday, October 15, the road from Appa Balwant Chowk to Budhwar (Hutatma) Chowk will be inaccessible to traffic.

Vijay Kumar Magar, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Traffic Branch, has conveyed that one-way traffic will be maintained between Budhwar Chowk and Appa Balwant Chowk. Furthermore, the road from Ganapati Chowk to Shree Tambadi Jogeshwari on Lakshmi Road will temporarily halt vehicular traffic. The road from Sakal Office to Shree Tambadi Jogeshwari Temple will be reserved exclusively for essential service vehicles, with no other vehicles allowed. To maintain order, parking in the proximity of Shree Tambadi Jogeshwari Mandir is strictly prohibited. The same parking restriction applies to the Shree Ashtabhuja Mandir area in Shaniwar Peth. Devotees visiting Tambadi Jogeshwari Temple are advised to park their vehicles at the Mandai parking or the parking lot along the riverbank road.

In the event of excessive congestion around Chatushringi Temple on Senapati Bapat Road, traffic in this area will be redirected along an alternate route. Traffic on Senapati Bapat Road will be rerouted through Vetalbaba Chowk and Deep Bangla Chowk in such instances.

In the Bhavani Peth area surrounding Bhavani Mata Mandir, access to Shree Bhavani Mata Mandir has been temporarily closed on Nehru Road, and parking of vehicles is prohibited from Nehru Road to the Bhavani Mata Mandir area. In the case of escalating crowding, additional changes may be enforced on Nehru Road. Traffic will also be redirected in the Shree Mahalakshmi Temple area in Sarasbagh, and the road from Swargate to Veer Savarkar statue via Sarasbagh will be temporarily closed for vehicular traffic. Traffic coming from Mitra Mandal Chowk will be diverted as well. These meticulously planned measures aim to ensure a safe and efficient experience for worshipers during the Navaratri festival.
