Traffic Diversion at Chandni Chowk in Pune Extended Until July 21

Pune, 15th July 2023: The traffic department in Pune has announced the extension of the traffic diversion measures implemented for vehicles traveling via the Mumbai-Bangalore Highway to accommodate the ongoing work at Chandni Chowk. As per the latest advisory issued by the traffic department, the diversion will continue for an additional six days. It will be in effect for three hours each night, from midnight to 3:30 am, until July 21.

Originally, the diversion was scheduled to be in place until July 15, as the officials from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had anticipated completing the girder installation work by then. However, since the installation is still underway, the officials have decided to extend the traffic diversion at Chandni Chowk during the nighttime hours.

The updated traffic diversion plan is as follows:

  1. Heavy vehicles traveling from Mumbai will be required to stop at the Taloja Toll Plaza on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway or the Somatane Toll Plaza on the old Mumbai-Pune Highway.
  2. Light vehicles traveling from the Mumbai-Pune Expressway or the old Mumbai-Pune Highway will need to take the route via Bhujbal Chowk-Rajiv Gandhi Bridge Road and Chandni Chowk Diva Hotel to reach Katraj.
  3. Heavy vehicles will be directed to use the Bhujbal Chowk – Rajiv Gandhi Bridge Road between the Kivale Bridge and Raya Chowk. This measure aims to manage traffic on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and the old Mumbai-Pune Highway effectively.

These traffic diversion measures have been put in place to ensure the smooth progress of the ongoing work at Chandni Chowk and to minimize inconvenience for commuters. The officials are working diligently to complete the girder installation, and the extension of the traffic diversion period reflects their commitment to ensuring the safety and timely completion of the project.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, allow for extra travel time during the specified diversion hours, and follow the instructions provided by traffic authorities. By cooperating with the traffic diversion measures, commuters can contribute to the efficient management of traffic flow in the area and ensure the safety of all road users.
